Taking a Canoe Trip on the River Wye

The areas in which the River Wye flows through are ones of outstanding beauty, one of which is Symonds Yat. Symonds Yat is situated right on the English and Welsh boarders and is a hotspot for tourists in the spring and summer months.

Symonds Yat itself is split between two counties, Symonds Yat West is in Herefordshire and Symonds Yat East is in Gloucestershire, the only thing separating them is the River Wye itself. The historic area is one of special scientific interest and is often home to Peregrine Falcons, Goshawks and Buzzards which can be view on Symonds Yat Rock situated on the Gloucestershire side some 120 meters above the River Wye.

One of the biggest attractions to Symonds Yat is the adventure activities on offer. It is famous for its canoeing and caters for all levels from novice to expert. If you are just starting out you can hire a canoe and receive tuition from experienced tutors, then enjoy a day gently paddling in the river. For expert level there are the rapids of the River Wye, something many good canoeists come to the area for seeking the thrill and challenge it is renowned for offering.
